My mate David Wolfe (ok, we’ve never met but I reckon we might be friends if I didn’t get too shy in his charismatic presence), says that we don’t need drugs or drink to get us high. We can do that, with a little help from superfoods.

So after a blah day today I decided to take his advice and make myself a smoothie full of Superfoods. Plus I was off to the movies with my mum at that awkward 6pm time slot and I needed something to eat first. (BTW, I really enjoyed Hitchcock).

So, what are Superfoods?  I don’t know to be honest.  I reckon they are anything that you eat that make you feel super – both at the time and 12 hours later (so, too much red wine does not count!).

I am only part way through David’s book called Superfoods and so far I have read about spirulina, maca, cacao and goji berries.  The one I am most interested in so far is Maca which according to David can help with menstrual disorders.  Considering my fractured history with endometriosis, this definitely peaked my interest.  I haven’t been taking it for long so I haven’t noticed any changes yet, but if I do, I will let you know!

So, due to my blah day and pending cinema engagement I made a potion of Maca, cacao, almond milk, raspberries, coconut flakes, rice syrup, goji berries and ice.  Wow!  It was rich!  There is such a thing as too much cacao.  But I think it might make a wonderful dessert, especially if it was frozen and then reblended…

This whole smoothie thing is a process.  I am having some hits and some misses.  But I am loving my green smoothie for breakfast.  It’s the best nutritional change I have made in years!
