One of the things I enjoy about being on my detox at the moment is trying out healthier options for things such as salad dressing.  Instead of reaching for a store bought dressing, do you realise you can make yourself something healthier and yummier  (in my opinion)?  My favourite ingredient for this is Tahini!

Tahini is a paste made from grinding up sesame seeds.  It can be used on it’s own as a butter substitute and it is well know for being in hummus and baba ghanoush  but I love using it as the base for creamy salad dressings – it is so much better than mayonnaise!  Plus you get lot’s fantastic health benefits along the way – such as fibre, protein, Omega-3 and calcium. (You can get tahini in supermarkets or make your own!)

Here is a sneak peak at a gorgeous salad dressing I made today as part of my detox.  (And if you are keen to try a detox yourself my next one starts in November to get you ready for Summer)

Creamy Tahini Salad Dressing

2 tablespoons of tahini

1/4 cup of water

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon each of chives and parsley

1 pinch of sea salt

1 tablespoon of coconut aminos or tamari

1 clove of garlic

Method: put all into a food processor and blend until it’s creamy.  Add to anything or even use it as a dip!
