How do I know this is possible?  I’ve lived it myself.

I’d spent all of my life believing that I was a healthy eater. I didn’t eat red meat, I wasn’t big on sauces and rich food and I could easily say no to dessert at a restaurant. But over a period of a couple of years I had put on enough weight that I was half a kilo away from being overweight (according to the BMI). This really shocked me as I had always been relatively thin and during my 20’s and early 30’s I never had to think about what I was eating. I was a size 10 and that was that. But not once I turned 35!

Being a grown up with all the stresses of work, keeping house, relationships and money meant I could “treat” myself with chocolate & wine whenever I wanted (i.e. every day!)

After a couple of years of denial, chocolate & wine binges and some surgeries for an illness, I finally realised that my own health had to come first.  I quit my corporate job, moved to Albany and started to re-educate myself both through formal studies and trial and error.  What I now know to be true is that healthy food, moderate exercise and lots of self-care are the keys to living a life of freedom.  Freedom from calorie counting, guilt, long-term stress, trips to the doctor and obsession over the scales.
