On Saturday night I watched my beloved Sydney Swans get walloped by the Fremantle Dockers.  It has taken me this long to be able to talk about it.  And after a lot of analysis I decided that one of the biggest advantages the Dockers had over us was energy.  They were just relentless and they just didn’t stop.  When was the last time you felt like that?  It’s hard to stay energetic when things are so busy all the time!

Which is why I recommend making a batch of these little protein balls.  They hit the sweet spot that so many of us crave at around 3pm and they are full of protein (from protein powder, almonds and chia seeds)  which keep you fuller longer.  Try them – they might turn you into a little ball of energy!

Protein Balls

Energy Balls

A large handful of almonds

1 1/2 tablespoons of chia seeds

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

1 serve of chocolate protein powder

1 cup of dates, chopped & pitted

1 teaspoon of vanilla powder

1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Dessicated coconut for rolling

Warm water

Method: Add all ingredients except coconut and water to a food processor and mix until well combined.  Add small amounts of warm water until the mixture sticks together.  Roll into approximately 12-13 balls and roll in the coconut.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes or so.  Eat one or two a day at approximately 3pm!

P.S. – the purple container in the photo is a nod to the Dockers. I hope they win on Saturday!

BTW this is the sort of snack you could enjoy during the transition phase of my Revitalise Guided Detox
