It’s almost 5 years since I started my studies to become a Health Coach (and almost 4 years since I finished) and things have changed a lot since then.

When I started this career, I thought I could make the biggest difference in this world by helping women lose weight.  (I was wrong…)

In my old stressed-out corporate life, I honestly believed that all my problems would go away if I was the “right” size.  I thought I would be less stressed, I’d have more energy and I thought it would make me happy.  So I thought I’d pass that “knowledge” onto others.

But here’s the thing… I’ve since discovered that when weight loss was my personal goal, I was always disappointed, I was always watching what I ate, I could always find fault with my body, I always felt guilty and I was never satisfied.

And guess what, almost all my clients who have weight loss goals end up feeling the same way.

What’s worked for me is realising there is much more to life than being the “perfect” size!  Since then I feel so much more freedom and a lot less guilt.  And many of my clients agree.

I believe the health & wellness industry is slowly changing and I am determined to help lead the way.

Because women spend far too much time worrying about how they look.  Stressing about whether they can see a fat roll in a photo or whether they can fit into the same size jeans as 10 years ago.  And quite frankly I’m bored by it.

These kinds of thoughts are just a waste of time and a distraction from living a life of freedom.

Imagine if you are meant to be the next Oprah Winfrey but you are spending so much time hating on your body that you won’t speak up and show yourself to the world.  (Maybe that’s an extreme example, but what if it was true?!)  What if your constant worry about calories in vs. calories out is being picked up by your daughter and SHE is supposed to be the next Oprah but it hasn’t even occurred to her because she thinks she’s not perfect enough…

I believe we have a responsibility to ourselves and the next generation (and the ones after that) to love ourselves unconditionally, to show those around us that we take excellent care of ourselves because it feels AMAZING, and not because it’ll result in a 6-pack.

I’d love to see the mindset that is ingrained in so many of us change; the thinking that beauty & thinness is the most important thing for women, even more important than intelligence and compassion and especially having fun!

But you probably already know that old thinking patterns don’t change without going within.  You feel like you’d like to change, here are somethings that have worked for me:

Letting go of the old diet, deprivation, “I need a 6-pack” mindset.  This is just another way of making you small (quite literally).  The more you focus on what you can’t have, the more that life seems like it’s lacking.  Changing this mindset isn’t easy.  But believe me – it can be done!

Deciding that you are GOOD ENOUGH to treat yourself this way!  Maybe you’ve been pushing yourself too hard for too long and your body & mind don’t even know how to slow down.  Maybe you were told as a child that unless you work hard you aren’t going to be a success.  There’s a lot to unpack there and it will take time.  But it can happen!

Choosing to unlearn all the self-imposed rules and regulations.  Remember, you are an adult human being.  You are in control of your own life.  If you want to eat cake, eat cake. If you want to stop going hard at the gym, just stop.  Just.  Stop.  Weighing.  Yourself.  Fill your life with your passions and all these rules won’t matter anymore.

But if you’re anything like me (someone who finds it hard to ask for help), you should know you don’t have to be Wonder Woman going into battle all alone except for her shield (Oh my gosh I cried when I saw that in the movie – how powerful is she!?)  You don’t have to be a superhero!

You can have bad days, you can cry, you can revert to your old ways a million times.  As long as you know that you have the power within you to really change your old patterns and to live a fulfilling life without the constant pressure to look perfect.

You have support!  You have me!

So, let’s make a vow together right now.  Put your hand on your heart and say: “I deserve to live the life of my dreams.  I don’t need my body to look perfect to achieve that.  But I do need fuel my mind, body & spirit with the things they deserve to feel amazing.  I commit to doing this from now and forever and I don’t need to be perfect to make that happen”

My mind is made up, I am no longer a weight-loss coach.  If you feel that living an amazing life is all about being a size 10, then I’m not the personal trainer for you.  And that’s okay!  There are lots of trainers out there that can do the job.

But, if you want to drop the old thinking patterns, empower yourself to live an energised life full of love, compassion, and excitement, then I might be the coach for you.

I am so passionate about this that I have created an online healthy lifestyle program called The Body Love Club.  It’s an affordable, holistic program that includes weekly workouts, recipes, and meditations plus monthly invites to online informative sessions from me and other health professionals to keep you motivated and engaged.  You can find all the info here.

I would love to have you on board whether it’s in the program or just within yourself and a change in your mindset.

What would it feel like to have freedom from calorie counting and deprivation, freedom from the fear of worrying about a fat roll showing in a photo and freedom from self-judgement and dissatisfaction?

Maybe now is the time to find out?
