No, I am not begging for money although that was definitely one of the most used lines on King Street when I first moved to Newtown in 2001…
My aim here is to lose a little bit of my vanity (you’ll see what I mean in a sec) and show you a cool new App that my brother found for me.  He’s a Microsoft person and I’m an Apple and this new game is found on both platforms and it’s called – “Ball Strike” – yours for just $1 in the app store.
I love to exercise (boxing classes are my favourite) but I have a broken foot and haven’t done any real form of exercise for more than 2 months.  In other words I have been in my own personal hell…  So when Dave found me this I (mentally) jumped at the chance to have a go.  And I’ve had a go 3 days in a row now!
Basically the premise of the game is it’s a little bit like X-Box Kinect and it uses your front facing camera device to exercise.  Turn on the app and stand in front of it and then use your body to twist, turn, kick, hit and jump to make the balls explode. (I haven’t tried the kicking or jumping yet).  It’s kind of fun, it’s quick (12 minutes) and since you get a score at the end you can compete against yourself, family & friends or complete strangers (I am ranked #2 today in the Apple Game Centre).
So what is my verdict? Can I just say that I hurt!  My shoulders and arms can really feel it so it has definitely worked me out.  I can see myself keeping this in my repertoire even when I’m fully fit.  It’s great for when you are stuck indoors due to bad weather or really lacking time.  The game is a little bit buggy but I think for $1 it’s pretty good value.  More information is available here:
I bet you are waiting for me to lose a bit of my vanity now?  Here’s a pic of me doing my workout.  Not my best angle…
