One of the BIG reasons why people don’t exercise is that they lack motivation. As your online personal trainer, I feel it’s my duty to educate you about WHY you should be exercising regularly. I want to help keep you motivated. And the thing is… every one is motivated by something different. So this year, once a month, I will present to you a reason to exercise. If it doesn’t resonate with you, don’t worry and keep reading! Maybe next month’s tip will do the trick.
Let’s get started with the best reason of all to exercise – you are less likely to die!
According to the Heart Foundation of Australia, one Australian dies of cardio vascular disease every 12 minutes! OMG! That number is astounding.
My own father died at age 54 of a heart attack. This is one of the big reasons why I am so passionate about helping others (and myself) to live a healthy and happy life.
The thing about cardiovascular disease is that it’s mostly preventable.
According to the Heat Foundation, “risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight and obesity, physical inactivity, low fruit and vegetable intake, alcohol and smoking. Nine in 10 adult Australians have at least one risk factor for CVD and one in four (25%) have three or more risk factors.”
If you want to live a long, healthy, happy life, it is important to look at these risk factors in your own life and make some small but simple changes.
If you are currently not exercising regularly, ask yourself why? If you don’t like gyms, then find another type of exercise you enjoy. If you don’t have time, then start small with just a 10 minute walk at lunch time. If you find you can’t commit to it long term get some help and accountability by joining an online program like my FUN Fitness program or engaging your own personal trainer.
